How It Works Under the Hood

Sound and Light Where Rodents Like to Nest
Mount a unit in the engine bay, away from the exhaust and moving parts, with a clear line toward the space you want to cover. It sends out ultrasonic sound between 18 and 36 kHz and flashes two LED lights, a combination meant to make a warm, quiet engine bay feel less safe to rodents looking for shelter. Results vary with the location and the animals, and the sound doesn't pass through solid objects, so placement matters.

Pauses While You Drive
A vibration sensor puts the unit on standby while the engine is running and switches it back on about 10 seconds after you park, so it works only while the car is sitting. It draws about 5 mA (0.1 W) when it's on.

Three Ways to Power It
Connect it to the car with the included vehicle power cable (DC 5–12V), plug it into a USB power adapter with the included cable, or run it on 4 AA batteries (not included). A power switch and a red/green status light show when it's on.

Frequent Questions
Everything you need to know before you order
Will it keep every rodent away?
No device can promise that. Results depend on where it's placed, how many animals are around and what's attracting them. It works best as one part of a plan: remove food and nesting material, block entry points in the garage, and check under the hood now and then.
Will it drain my car battery?
It draws about 5 mA (0.1 W) and pauses while you drive. That's a small draw, but if the car sits for weeks or the battery is weak, run the unit on AA batteries or keep the car battery on a maintainer.
Can people or pets hear it?
Many adults can't hear it, but some people, especially children and teens, may hear the lower end of the range, and dogs and cats may hear it too. Don't use it near pet rodents, rabbits or guinea pigs.
Does the sound go through the hood or walls?
No. Ultrasonic sound doesn't pass through solid walls or objects, so place the unit with a clear line toward the area you want to cover.
Where can I use it?
Engine bays, trunks, garages, sheds, basements and storage rooms. Use one unit per space; the sound doesn't travel from one space to another.
Is it waterproof?
The manufacturer doesn't list a waterproof rating. Mount it where it won't be sprayed directly, and take it out before pressure-washing the engine bay.
How much area does one unit cover?
The manufacturer rates it at 215–538 sq ft per unit in open space. In a crowded engine bay or a cluttered garage, expect less.
What temperatures can it handle?
It's rated to work from -13°F to 176°F (-25°C to 80°C). Keep it away from the exhaust and other parts that get hotter than that.
Why are there 2 units?
Use one under the hood and one in the trunk or garage, or fit one in each of two cars.
How long does shipping take?
Shipping is free to the contiguous U.S. (48 states and DC). Your order ships from our U.S. partner warehouse within 1–3 business days and usually arrives 3–7 business days after shipping. You'll get a tracking number by email.
What if it arrives damaged or I change my mind?
